Many years ago it was a bike event in the morroco high atlas,everybody had long pants,shirts and many,boots for the ride!!!!
I use the word biker for the real ones!!!The one who rides year long,even in winter!!!Hey,I live in Canada!!!Try to ride with the quick release shoes at -22 celcius!!!!!!!!

I don’t think your gonna need the cassettes,crank and the others “big” mechanic parts!!!Just remember that an aluminium frame are “harder” to get weld in many “third world” country!Also,go for a free standing tent and don’t forget goggles!!!In the desert,the sand carry by the wind,could be a real problem.Folding plastic water bottles are the best to carry!The best item of all (for my point of view and my experience)its a chèche!!Its a french word.Le vieux campeur,in France seel it but you can your own out a long and narrow tissue!!
